Nancy Greene, Principal

Dear Parents,

The start of a new school year is a time of excitement, renewal, and opportunity.  At E. J. Hayes Elementary School, we take great pride in our progress.  We have established partnerships within our community and value our volunteers who give of their time and energy to help our students and our school. Technology resources are available to support and enhance instruction.  We are very fortunate to have teachers who maintain high expectations and work hard to ensure students are successful.

Parents, we need your help, as well.  Attendance is a critical factor in any child’s school success.  Children should attend school every day, except in cases of illness and/or emergency.  It is impossible to replace the learning missed when your child is absent.  Regular attendance and promptness are good habits that are appreciated and important to your child’s success.  This year, make school a priority in your household.  W e ask that students be in attendance and arrive to school on time each day.

We are excited to share that we will be implementing a Positive Behavior Support Program this year. “Expectations” will be shared and reinforced with students daily.  Positive behaviors will be expected and recognized.  We ask for your support as we implement our “HIGH FIVE” Program.

Finally, research shows that students whose parents are involved in their education have high achievement. One predictor of school success is parent-child interaction, including reading together.  Regular reading improves many skills and it reinforces that reading is a valuable and pleasurable activity.  We ask that you read with your child, stay in contact with your child’s teacher, seek ideas about how you can help your child at home and attend school activities.  Be your child’s number one fan!

We welcome you and invite you to become a working part of our school team.  Thanks in advance for your support and help.
